HIMAA in partnership with iMedX are pleased to announce the second session of our three-part series on coder education. In this session, we will delve into the critical aspects of the 12th edition changes in clinical coding, with a specific emphasis on sepsis, resistance, and COVID19. This session will cover the following key topics:

1. Sepsis

  1. Transition from Sepsis-2 to Sepsis-3, the new definition and why.
  2. Understanding the updated coding guidelines and terminology related to sepsis.
  3. The clinical criteria for sepsis, septic shock and severe sepsis.
  4. Examples related to hospital documentation and multifactorial terms such as urosepsis.

2. Resistance

  1. Exploring the changes in coding practices for antibiotic resistance and infectious diseases.
  2. New resistance codes in new block.
  3. Required documentation brought to life using examples.
  4. Understanding the application of ESBL and MRSA, when to query.

3. COVID 19

  1. Addressing the coding challenges and considerations specific to COVID-19 cases.
  2. Discussing the new U codes and retained codes.
  3. How and when to code symptoms of COVID-19 using examples.
  4. Unfolding long COVID-19 with respect to 12th edition changes.

This session will cover the impact of 12th edition changes on reimbursement and healthcare analytics.

The webinars have been designed to maximise engagement by way of interactive polls, practical examples, relevant industry experience and a platform for questions and discussions.

We welcome all clinical coders, documentation specialists, healthcare professionals, students, and anyone interested in the topic to attend this engaging session.

iMedX will be delivering another Coder PD Webinar regarding diabetes and neoplasms in September.

We look forward to hearing about your experience and learning together!
