Research Interest & Investigator Participation Survey of HIMAA Members

All HIMAA members are invited to participate in the Research Interest & Investigator Participation Survey of HIMAA Members.

As with any profession, a strategic requirement for Health Information Managers (HIMs) is the conduct of profession-related research to build the knowledge base and support the professional development and progression of its members.

HIMs and Clinical Coders (CCs) are experts within their work domains, and are best placed to undertake this research, and publish the findings.

Currently, approximately two-thirds of published HIM-related research is undertaken by research teams consisting of health professionals other than HIMs or CCs (medical, nursing, and allied health professionals; non-profession-specific health researchers; health informaticians; etc).

Part of HIMAA’s Strategic Plan is to expand the involvement of HIMs and CCs in both HIM-related research, and other areas of health research. To that end, the HIMAA Research Advisory Committee is surveying members to discover their interest and experience in undertaking research, and the barriers to their involvement in research projects, and we are asking for your participation in the survey.

The survey will take about 5 minutes to complete and will close on Friday 19 August 2022.
