This retrospective cohort study evaluated the completeness and accuracy of administrative coding as a method of surveillance for alcohol involvement in injury events. The authors quantified the level of agreement between patient Blood Alcohol Content and the use of alcohol-related ICD-10-AM codes in a cohort of major trauma patients who presented to a major trauma centre in Victoria, Australia, over a 2-year period.
