Introducing the Membership Enhancement Strategy – Your Feedback Matters!
During HIM Week we introduced the 2023-2024 Membership Enhancement Strategy, a framework designed around ‘Membership Enhancement’ of the HIMAA community. This program aims to improve satisfaction, value and engagement for our members. We recognise that changes to Membership Types (strategy one), will also be enhanced by updates/reviews to other areas within the scope of Membership.
Five key strategies that form our Membership Enhancement:
- Membership Type
- Credentialing Advancement
- Fellow Program
- Awards Program
- Student Engagement
The HIMAA Board and Membership Committee are committed to creating an inclusive and rewarding community where you can thrive professionally. Your thoughts and suggestions regarding our Membership Enhancement Strategy are invaluable to us. We encourage you to share your feedback, ideas, and any concerns you might have by emailing us at membership@himaa.org.au
Your input will help us tailor these strategies to best suit your needs.
Focus on Membership Types:
As was submitted to the HIMAA 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM), the HIMAA Board is aiming for a simplification of Membership Types. The proposed categories were:
- Member
- Student Member
- Fellow Member
- Life Member
Whilst the AGM vote did not meet the required 75% support to pass, the objective of this change was to attract more members to the association, represent a broader range of health information professionals and recognising that learning pathways that equip professionals to work in health information management roles are no longer limited to formal qualifications.
By proposing these categories, we do not devalue our accredited university Health Information Management partners. However, we recognise that our profession is diverse, and we can put a program in place to recognise those who have skills and expertise in Health Information Management. This strategy will require constitutional change at a HIMAA AGM or EGM.
