HIMAA ACCREDITATION COUNCIL – Call for Members

HIMAA is seeking expressions of interest from members to join its Accreditation Council to oversee the process of accrediting course and qualifications in the health information management profession at the tertiary education level.

HIMAA aims to accredit tertiary courses for the HIM profession by separating academic governance of accreditation (competency standards) from governance of the process of accreditation (accreditation standards), in order to strengthen the rigour and transparency of both.

Accreditation will be undertaken against HIMAA competency standards for professional entry and practice, which will be maintained by HIMAA’s Education Committee. The role of the Accreditation Council is to create robust standards for the process of accreditation, and then to oversee the implementation of these standards in the process of accrediting courses and qualifications.

The Accreditation Council is seeking to nominate a Chair as well as members to join the Council. HIMAA members with an interest to support this endeavour are encouraged to submit an EOI by email, one paragraph detailing the nature of their interest and a second paragraph briefly outlining relevant qualifications and experience. Members are requested to attach a relevant resume to this email.

Selection of the committee will be made by the CEO and Board representatives. For further information, contact HIMAA’s CEO, Jae Redden on 02 9887 5903.

To view a draft copy of the Terms of Reference, please contact the Executive Support Officer on 02 9887 5001.

EOIs should be emailed to executiveoffice@himaa.org.au by COB Wednesday 30 June 2021.
