HIM-Interchange Update

Issue 2 of HIM-Interchange was released on 9 August and is a special COVID-19 edition. Given the situation is critical across NSW and Victoria at the time of writing, these articles are more pertinent than ever, despite the pandemic fatigue that many of us are experiencing.

The HIM-Interchange Subcommittee is extremely appreciative of the authors who were willing to share their experiences. The documentation of the work being done by our profession to assist in the management of the pandemic is historically important and will have enormous value in years to come, as well as now.

The online platform for HIM-Interchange is a very pleasing milestone in the ten year history of the journal, and whilst the whole Subcommittee has been involved, the bulk of the work in delivering this functionality to HIMAA members has been done by Joanne Fitzgerald, our wonderful Editor.

Thank you Jo on behalf of the entire HIMAA membership – the online format is excellent and the transition has been seamless. The transition to an online magazine has meant that COVID-19 has not impacted the production of the magazine significantly, and for this we can be grateful!

In other news, the HIM-Interchange Subcommittee has been receiving education from members of the HIMAA Editorial Board at our monthly meetings. These people are leaders in their various areas of expertise and have provided a wealth of information that will be used to update committee processes and documentation, particularly in the guidelines for authors and preparation of articles for publishing. This will help to make the process of writing an article as positive an experience as possible, and to this end we would encourage members to consider writing an article themselves, or to encourage someone else to write an article.

Finally, the HIM-Interchange Subcommittee would love to hear feedback from you about the online journal. Is there anything that could be improved?  Is there an article that you particularly enjoyed?  Are there topics that you would like to see covered in the journal? Please email us at HIMInterchange@himaa.org.au with your feedback, or with your offer to write an article!
