Last month we were busy releasing our membership renewal notices. I hope you continue to be a part of HIMAA as we are planning to pack more into your membership! In the next 12 months you will see more professional development webinars and content as well as focused attention to responding to industry matters. Please click here to renew membership now – you can declare it in this year’s tax return.

With thanks to the Working Group and the Education Committee led by Dr Kerin Robinson, we have reviewed our Professional Credentialing scheme, which we look forward to launching in the near future.

Internally I have been focusing on upgrading our systems, including our Learning Management System, as well as implementing a Shared Point document system, and re-evaluating our membership software.

There are great opportunities for members to contribute to HIMAA. In this issue we are seeking an Expression of Interest for the Accreditation Council members as well as the Queensland Branch Convener.

You can view the What’s On section to see the latest news from our branches. They are creating fun networking events for members, including a trivia night in Victoria and a gin testing in South Australia. The Queensland Branch has also ignited a mentoring initiative which you can read about in Member News.

On that note I would like thank Kathleen Rogers for being the HIMAA Queensland Branch Convener for the last few terms. She has given significant time and expertise to the branch and we look forward to continuing to benefit from her contribution to the Conference and Events Committee.

I enjoyed attending the Clinical Coding Focus event organised by the NSW Branch on 3 June 2021 which included a cardiology clinical update from Dr Mooney. We had a wonderful attendance, everyone enjoying a hot breakfast buffet as well. A big thank you to Kara Pollard and Kim Osborne, our NSW Branch Conveners, for their tireless energy in organising such an informative education program. The full session was recorded and will be available to purchase through our new Video Store, which we are excited to offer so that the content knowledge from our workshops and webinars will be available to all.

We are full steam ahead with planning for the National Conference in Melbourne 25-27 October 2021. The program will be finalised in the next month or so. Platinum and Gold sponsorships are secured. Complete your early bird registration now before End of Financial Year. Group discounts available – save up to 15% off and Register now! The event will be held face-to-face with a virtual option on standby if circumstances change. We are also investigating streaming selected sessions for our remote audience and will keep you informed

As announced in the last update, we are working with The Association Specialists (TAS) to deliver this year’s National Conference. Here is an introduction from Nell Harrison, Managing Director.

The Association Specialists is delighted to have been appointed as organisers for the HIMAA National Conference taking place in Melbourne in October this year.

TAS is Australia’s largest and most trusted association and conference management company, with over 75 associations entrusting us with day-to-day management of their organisations and events.

We are looking forward to bringing our expertise in collaboration with HIMAA to ensure a seamless, successful conference. TAS will partner with HIMAA in many aspects of the Conference, including marketing, delegate services, sponsorship/exhibition fulfilment, speaker management and social function coordination. TAS’ systems and policies will ensure the total integrity and ethical wellbeing of the Conference.

With over 20 years’ experience, specifically within the association sector and in particular the event, marketing and sponsorship fields, I have a passion for creating and fostering long-term relationships which is reflected in my team’s commitment to their clients.

We are empowered to provide excellent service delivery results to HIMAA and look forward to meeting you in Melbourne.

A reminder that enrolments for the 22274VIC Certificate IV in Clinical Classification close on 25 June 2021. If you know someone who has been considering enrolment please let them know to enrol now before a price increase in the next financial year. Also, do not forget the HIMAA 2021 Research Grant Scheme is open to 30 June 2021.

I remain keen to work with you in leading HIMAA to serve the health information profession. Please feel free to reach out to me to chat.
