What a week it was – celebrating HIM Week 2022! Thank you to all our webinar presenters: Lyn Williams, Kara Pollard, Karen Baker, Genevieve Westacott, Jean McGhie, Hiep Luu, Madeleine Maloof and Scott Epp. Unfortunately I was hit with the dreadful COVID-19 so I was out of action for the week, but enjoyed seeing some of the posts on the social media. I hope you had fun taking the time to celebrate you and the profession. We have included some of your activity highlights in this edition in case they were missed in the social media (#himweek2022).

The 2022 HIMAA National Conference is approaching so keep a lookout for all the latest information around pre-conference events, workshops, speakers and social events. We are living in uncertain times, so more than ever it is important to connect with people. Please feel free to contact our conference organisers to enquire about the COVID-19 cancellation policy, one day registration and special conference rate for new members. Great sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are still available.

We will be holding our Annual General Meeting on Day 2 of the Conference. This is an opportunity for you to hear HIMAA’s wrap-up for the last financial year, ask questions and make comments, as well as being present for our Board election. A notice for the election will be out this week.

We are inviting members to submit an abstract for the 20th IFHIMA Congress. This is being jointly held with the 2023 HIMAA National Conference.

One of our members has expressed an interest in resurrecting the International Community of Practice. View this and all other Expression of Interest opportunities listed here. I would like to draw attention to an opportunity from the Australian Digital Health Agency which is seeking a Digital Health Expert Advisor. This would be a great opportunity to have one of our HIMs involved representing the profession. I encourage you to consider this.

NSW Branch has a PD event on 16 September 2022. I am also saving the date for the TAS Branch event on 16 November 2022 so that I can meet as many of our members as possible. All upcoming events are listed here.

Excitingly, the long-awaited new membership software, together with our updated website, is due to launch soon with beta testing ready to go next week. The new membership platform will have an internal membership directory and online forum for our committees and communities of practice. We will also be moving to online CPD, with an updated Professional Credentialling Scheme, in Phase 2.

I remain keen to work with you in leading HIMAA to serve the health information management profession. Please feel free to reach out to me to chat.
