The Health Information Management Association of Australia (HIMAA) is the premier association for health information management professionals in Australia and has been serving the profession since 1949. Predominant amongst our profession are the ANZSCO-recognised occupations of Health Information Manager (HIM) and Clinical Coder (CC)who operate in a broad range of roles supporting health information requirements in hospitals, registries, health departments and service facilities in both the public and private sectors of health.

HIMAA is organising a national Health Information Management (HIM) Week in August 2022. Our state branches and members are encouraged to hold a variety of events at their workplaces, including professional development days, workshops, lobby displays, awards nights and presentations.

The idea is to bring health information management teams out from behind the scenes to honour and celebrate the knowledge, skills and motivation they have to contribute to improvement in the healthcare system in Australia, together with the health and wellness of the nation. We hope to organise fun and relevant activities that will showcase the profession and our members!

To this end, the National Office is forming a HIM Week Taskforce and seeking members to generate ideas and consult with other members to identify and help promote activities and engagement in the workplace and community throughout HIM Week.

Members and HIM students interested in contributing to this taskforce are encouraged to email Jae Redden, CEO HIMAA, at executiveoffice@himaa.org.au, stating their interest and availability over the coming months to contribute to the group and attend virtual catch-up meetings.

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is COB AEDT Friday 11 March 2022.
