President’s report

Hello Members, My thoughts are with our members in Queensland and northern NSW who were impacted by the floods earlier this month. Please reach out if there’s any way we can assist. Aside from the extreme weather, Autumn is my favourite season, given the milder temperatures and reduced amounts of pollen in the air that… Continue reading President’s report

Hello Members   Welcome to the first President’s Report for 2022! During the last week I’ve been able to attend a couple of in person events. Remember the novelty of being able to see the bottom half of the person you’re talking to and not having to worry about the mute button – although in… Continue reading President’s report

Hello Members,    This year’s HIMAA Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on the 26 October 2021 online. During the meeting I shared with members that the last 12 months had been another difficult year. Despite the challenges, HIMAA has stabilised operationally and has positioned the Association in a financially strong position. We were able… Continue reading President’s report

Hello Members   The HIMAA Board had the opportunity to be consulted with by the Australian Digital Health Agency (ADHA) on their next National Digital Health Strategy as part of their stakeholder engagement. During the meeting with ADHA I reflected on how more and more HIMs are involved in Digital Health. I doubt there are very few large-scale Digital Health projects in Australia that do not have a HIM or HIM-trained professional involved.   … Continue reading President’s report

Hello Members,   With more than half the Australian population experiencing lockdown in the past month it is important to maintain our physical and mental health, as well as looking for the unexpected positives. For instance, using the permitted exercise time I have walked and explored different paths within my neighbourhood. The kids and I… Continue reading President’s report

Hello Members,    As the pandemic has progressed over the last year, information has been pivotal in the public health interventions we have all seen and experienced across the country. The QR codes in shops and cafes, vaccination information, positive cases and all manner of information that is being collected, analysed and distributed in managing this… Continue reading President’s report

Dear Members,    Recently I caught up with a long-time member and past colleague who shared  his challenge of promoting the skills of HIMs in his workplace. He was concerned that at times the opinion of clinicians was taken instead of HIMs on health information related issues. We have been regarded as the custodians of… Continue reading President’s report

Hello Members,    My thoughts are with the members in NSW who were affected by the floods in March. I was saddened to see the devastation. Looking at the before and after photos the areas looked more like inland seas.     HIM Awareness Week (10-16 May)    It’s that time of year again when we come together to… Continue reading President’s report
