The national HIMAA Conference is our flagship Health Information Management event, receiving local and international recognition for its high calibre speakers, quality content and value for money professional development offering for members and the wider industry.
As Australia will host the IFHIMA Congress in conjunction with the 2023 HIMAA Conference, planning for both the 2022 HIMAA National Conference and the 2023 joint Congress will occur concurrently. We are seeking a Scientific Chair – Academic and a Scientific Chair – Industry for a two-year term. Jae Redden, HIMAA CEO, will oversee both events in the role of Conference Committee Chair.
The 2022 national conference will be held in Adelaide. We are looking to recruit committee members with a range of expertise and local networks in South Australia to fill various roles encompassing marketing and sponsorship activities and program content development.
Additionally, we are calling for members to join the 2023 Congress Committee of the joint HIMAA/IFHIMA Congress to be held in Brisbane. Members with local Queensland knowledge and networks are encouraged to apply for positions across the Program Committee. Initial planning and strategy meetings will be held in early 2022, with the majority of work to be carried out in the latter half of 2022 and into 2023.
The Call for Submissions for Adelaide will occur in late February 2022. Board representatives will continue to be involved, as well as State Branches, in supporting the shaping of the Conference agenda based on industry needs and opportunities for HIM Profession advocacy.

This conjoint role is responsible for the academic content and rigor of the Conference. This includes delivery of a relevant and contemporary program and the publication of high quality proceedings.
The Scientific Chair – Academic will take on the Program Lead role in co-ordinating the overall Conference program for 2022 and 2023.

Senior HIM – Clinical Coder (Coding Stream)
One appointment will be made to the role of Senior HIM Representative – Coding Stream for each year.
The Senior HIM – Clinical Coder (Coding Stream) is responsible for sourcing out Clinical Speakers, in consultation with the Director of Training HIMAA Education Services, to deliver the Clinical Updates Sessions at the Conference.

Marketing and Sponsorship Working Group
Up to two appointments will be made to the Marketing and Sponsorship Working Group
The Marketing and Sponsorship Working Group is responsible for providing expert advice regarding marketing and sponsorship opportunities on a local, state and national level, leveraging industry contacts and networks, to expand on existing marketing avenues and audience reach of the conference.
Acting as Conference Ambassador, the Marketing and Sponsorship Working Group will help promote the Conference at industry meetings and events and through professional networks, identifying opportunities for additional stakeholder engagement and revenue generation.
Working closely with the Conference Chair and the professional conference organiser, the Marketing and Sponsorship Working Group will act as a sounding board for marketing and sponsorship activities, helping generate new ideas and leads and assisting in the development of key messaging to drive engagement, including taking part in social media efforts.
